What's New At Folkways Farm

Hello again folks! This week, in addition to getting ready for our next market appearance, there has been much strawberry jam making going on in the kitchen and way, way, way too much thistle weeding going on in our lower field. Although we will never do it because we care so much about the quality and safety of our food, there are certainly times, when our arms are swollen from thistle scratches, where we understand why so many people, especially large-scale farms, spray toxic chemicals all over everything. But, according to everything we have read, at some point, the weeds will just give up and move somewhere else..... right?

Our beautiful strawberry jam.

Some before and after thistle fun in the garlic.

And here it is folks! Our first iphoto, quicktime, slideshow, movie thing documenting some of the stages we've gone through while building our straw bale house. We have done all of the work ourselves with the help of many good friends who are happy to work for beer, eggs, duck meat, produce and edgy but passionate conversation.

See you Saturday!
